Originally from Scotland, this distinctively shaped terrier has had many roles in popular culture. They have been a favorite of royalty, from King James VI of Scotland, in the 17th century, to US President Franklin D.Roosevelt. In fact, when King James VI became James I of England, he sent a gift of six terriers, thought to be the forerunners of the Scottie, to a French monarch. His love and adoration for the breed increased their popularity throughout the world.
